Mobile apps, made to be lived with.

ConexaLabs designs, engineers and ships its own apps. Lab 001 is CoNest, a roommate finder that matches people on how they actually live.

What we build

Three practices, one team, from the first sketch to the store listing.

Design

We start with the person, not the feature list. Interviews, flows and prototypes people can hold before a line of production code exists. Design sits next to engineering, so what gets drawn is what ships.

Flows · prototypes · native patterns

Engineering

Native iOS and Android on one shared backend. Local-first data, so the app is fast and works offline and syncs quietly in the background. Tested on real devices, not just simulators.

Swift · Kotlin · local-first sync

Launch

App Store and Google Play submissions handled end to end: listings, review, privacy labels, release notes. Then the part most studios skip: watching real usage and shipping the next version.

Connect on lifestyle. Not luck.

CoNest matches roommates and shared homes on the things that decide whether a place works: habits, schedules, cleanliness, budget and neighbourhood. Not just where you want to live.

How it works

  1. Create your profile. Lifestyle, interests, budget and preferences. The more detail, the better the matches.
  2. Discover compatible roommates. Roommate and home profiles ranked by lifestyle fit, habits and budget.
  3. Connect with confidence. Send a request, chat once it’s mutual, meet somewhere public, verify before committing.

Built for safer matching

  • Optional identity verification and verified badges.
  • Messaging only after both people accept.
  • Block and report from any profile. Every report gets reviewed.
  • You control what’s shared. Nothing is sold.

How we build

Five stages. The same five every time.

01 / 05

Research

What decides whether a shared home works? Budget and location are table stakes. Habits, schedules and cleanliness decide it. So that is what the product is built around.

Iterate

Usage tells us what to build next. Each release is small, dated, and written up in the release notes.

The studio

A small lab in Toronto.

ConexaLabs is an independent studio. We keep the roster short so every product gets the whole team: design, engineering and launch in one room, from the first sketch to the store listing.

We build our own apps because the best way to learn what a product needs is to be responsible for it after launch. CoNest is the first. The lessons from it shape everything we build next, including work we take on with partners.

Our architecture is silent. When an app is engineered correctly, the user never thinks about the backend.
